Mr. Doherty is a dedicated music instructor and performer with experience in many styles of music.
He teaches violin and music theory to private students of all ages and adjusts the curriculum and teaching approach to fit each student’s goals and skill level.

His expertise is with classical violin and music theory/composition, but he also has some experience with music production and various other styles of music.

Mr. Doherty is also an experienced vocalist and is currently the cantor and organist at The Monastery
of Our Lady of the Desert. He performs with many local ensembles as a violinist and vocalist.

He began singing in church choirs at age 11 and started private violin lessons at age 14. Violin quickly became his passion and he was lucky enough to be accepted into the summer programs at Conservatory Music in the Mountains where he performed alongside world class musicians and exceptional students.

He spent his two first years after High School at San Juan College where he was concertmaster of the
orchestra and an active member of the choir.
Mr. Doherty studied at the University of New Mexico where he participated in violin studio, composition
studio, and the UNM Symphony Orchestra.

He has found great joy and purpose in teaching others. He tries to inspire and help his students
grow while teaching self-discipline and expression.
